So, one of the few perks of working for a dealership is being able to get cars discounted from said dealership. Well, a recent trade in just came through and it looks to be pretty nice. It's obviously the 5.7L with decent amenities but my question to you all is: what problems arise for Early new gen Chargers that I should be concerned about? Other than cheap interiors...
Thanks in advance Oppostles!

There is a lot to like about a thumpy rear drive American V8. With that much under the hood and proper rwd the car has huge potential.

Well, you can expect poor fuel mileage.

Meh, my 1999 Grand Prix GTP is currently only getting about 12 in the city on premium fuel, about the only thing I could do worse in would be a hummer lol

The only beef I have is that the early 5.7s only had 325hp ("only"). I don't know what Chrysler did to the later ones to massage the extra ~50hp out of them, but I'm sure you could fix that ;)

The heater core blew out twice in my cousins '06. Was a damn mess when it happened. Apparently they are prone to doing so.
The transmission was rock-solid, how do I know? We did a LOT of burnouts in his Charger and he had it for well over 100,000 miles.

Actually the mileage isn't that terrible...I have a friend with a '12 Charger R/T he gets almost 28hwy

Let's see...V8...RWD...350+hp...sounds like a winner to me.

I had a 2007 that was a very solid car, the only issues I had related to a ball joint going out on the lower control and the speed sensor going out on the transmission valve body controller.
The lower control arm was an easy swap with a pickle fork and sledge hammer. The transmission had a hard time figuring out which gear to go into at speed. I dropped the pan, dropped the valve body, and replaced the electronic controller board. It was easy. You'll need a mercedes dip stick to read your transmission fluid level.
The only bad thing about the 2006 is that you can't do a proper doughnut, the rear diff is open and uses the brakes as a limited slip. So sadly she's a one tire fire when you turn off the traction control.
Also, you have change out 16 spark plugs every 36,000 miles.
A K&N cold air intake is worth 15-20 horsepower, no really it is. You'll also drop 2-3 MPG. That engine sounds wicked with a giant cone filter.

I own a Magnum, the Charger's wagon brother. 166k miles, and I've only had to replace one ABS sensor. Otherwise, plugs and fluids. Very solid cars.

Best part may be you look like a cop, therefore people act civilized and not like dipshits around you!

Christ get rid of that thing. You'll recoup your money in saved fuel with any other car.

In a hot minute, sir. fuck the chinsy interior. Track that car vs. any other domestic four door today? Game over....
